Welcome to our March Newsletter. In this issue, we have three important reminders: a Call for Contributions for our biennial Unyazi Festival in July; a Call for Proposals for our Soundings project; and a reminder to existing members who have not yet renewed that renewal is now overdue. We also have news of a new YouTube video channel, several opportunities for composers as well as the usual reminders of calls for scores.
As always, do let me know of any newsworthy items, for the next issue, that would help you to publicise your events in or after May. Likewise, if you hear of any composers’ opportunities, just send an email to me to malcolmdedman [at] gmail [dot] com.

News from the International Music Council
The International Music Council organizes, since the 1954, the International Rostrum of Composers, an international forum of representatives of broadcasting organizations who come together for the purpose of exchanging and broadcasting contemporary art music.
Since last year they are presenting works by composers from countries where contemporary music has no space in the radio broadcast. The works should be composed over the past five years and will be presented hors concours in a dedicated listening session called 'Windows on the World'.
The Council's aim is to give an invaluable opportunity to be heard during one of the most important forum for contemporary and, at the same time, offer to our delegates some new works.
Please note that, in this case, the participation is free of charge, and does not have to come from a broadcasting organization. All they need are the recordings, a description of the work and some biographical notes about the composer. A special commission will then select the works that will be presented.
The Council is encouraging SA composers to get in touch with them. They would be very happy to give this opportunity to a contemporary composer from SA.
Of course, if you think that there is a broadcasting organization that could be interested in participating as a full participant, the Council would be more than happy to explore possibilities. Please note that participating as full participant opens up to an extraordinary exposure for composers. Just as an example, works presented in 2015 have received more than 600 total broadcast from Argentina to Australia, more than 1000 streaming online. Moreover, since 2015 we have a 5000 Euro co-commission for the young selected composer along with a short residence in Sweden and a live recording and broadcast.
Please, do not hesitate to contact Davide Grosso at d [dot] grosso [at] imc-cim [dot] org for any further questions. He has pointed out that only one work (of max 10 minutes and for only one edition) will be selected from SA as the objective of this session is give an overview.
